Logistics Coordinator (last-mile, ocean)

The Role

We are a recognized leader in global food supply chain integrity management, looking to appoint a Logistics Coordinator to join our team. Working closely with colleagues, the role delivers an outstanding and efficient customer account holding service. Key Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities of a Logistics Coordinator include, but are not limited to:

  • Execution of import ocean container shipments (temperature controlled) from various international origins into North America.
  • Coordinate directly with national and local transportation providers (container drayage)
  • Ensure timely and consistent deliveries to our customer-nominated warehouses
  • Plan and manage the transportation routes and methods for the most efficient movement of goods.
  • Actively address issues within the supply chain, with a focus on ocean carriers, warehouses, container terminals, and road transportation providers  

The Person

The key skills and qualities of a Logistics Coordinator:

  • Must be fluent in English(written/spoken) as dealing primarily with the USA
  • Great communicator (in person, on Teams, by telephone, and by email)
  • Creative problem solver
  • 4-5 years of experience in first-mile logistics mandatory
  • Ability to be organized and prioritize many tasks
  • Assertive when needed
  • Flexible with a high degree of independence
  • Ability to define and action improvement initiatives (process and cost)
  • Solid understanding of import trade flows and processes
  • Team player in a very collaborative open environment
  • Ability to work independently and in a team; enjoys working closely with colleagues, intra- and interdepartmental
  • Experience in dealing with ocean carriers and freight procurement
  • Must work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, handling high volumes of shipments
  • Computer skills: Excel-Outlook-Word, prior SAP experience an asset
  • Comfortable with technology (online platforms, EDI)
