Senior Architectural Designer – Competitive – Manchester

The Role

SPIE UK, a smart engineering and technology-driven solutions provider for the built environment, are looking for a Senior Architectural Designer to progress the definition of architectural work packages from client concepts through to fully detailed construction detailed design packages. 

The successful candidate will also produce substantiating calculations, material selections, cost plans and BOMs to support the design.

The key responsibilities of a Senior Architectural Designer include, but are not limited to:

  • Design of architectural packages for clean room new builds and refurbishments and fit out, including wall and ceiling panelling systems.
  • Setting out of labs and pharmaceutical / healthcare production areas.
  • GMP area design including work flows schedules and space allocation.
  • Ensuring building regulations and fire safety requirements are incorporated.
  • Working to the RIBA Stages of design to define design deliverables.

The Person

The key skills and qualities of a Senior Architectural Designer:

  • Architectural drawing production of clean rooms, labs, writeup areas
  • Production of typical details drawings, schedules, room loaded drawings, bill of quantities from the design
  • Selection of clean room materials and details interfaces including walls, ceilings, doors, windows
  • Basic support and fixings calculations to validate design
  • Competent in drawing in AutoCAD and modelling in Revit including data
  • Must have a thorough understanding of design details in clean rooms in order to include necessary solutions in their design
  • Be qualified as an Architectural Technologist / Technician, with working experience of lead architect within a UK practice
