The Role

SPIE UK, a smart engineering and technology-driven solutions provider for the built environment, are looking for a Buyer to support the Procurement Manager and Lead Buyers in executing SPIE’s procurement strategy.  

The successful candidate will ensure all Procurement processes are implemented in accordance with the strategy and the policy defined by the Procurement Department.

The key responsibilities of a Buyer include, but are not limited to:

  • Work closely with key operational stakeholders to understand the business unit and ensure best value is achieved from all spend.
  • To manage the supplier approval process and maintenance of SPIE UK’s Approved Supplier List.
  • To work in a team alongside Procurement colleagues to support the implementation of process and initiatives in accordance with procurement and commodity group.
  • Focus on achieving savings and rebate targets along with other targeted SPIE Group KPIs.
  • To support implementation of UK and Group wide Procurement initiatives and projects.

The Person

The key skills and qualities of a Buyer:

  • Previous procurement experience, both high volume and high value, subcontracted services and consumables.
  • Experience in Facilities Management or Building Services sectors.
  • Excellent communicator with strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Strong negotiation and contracts implementation ability.
  • Solid understanding of how category management contributes to best practice procurement.
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Office packages, ERP systems and ideally current purchasing tools.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects involving multiple sites against tight deadlines.
  • Educated to degree level or with equivalent relevant experience.
