The Opportunity

Are you never satisfied with the status quo and always looking for ways to improve yourself, your team, and your company?  Do you take responsibility for your own experience and actions?  Are you an innovative civil engineer seeking to progress your career at a company with deep-seated ties to their local community and forward-thinking career development plans?  Northern Engineering, a civil engineering and surveying firm with over 30 years of experience serving Northern Colorado, has an exciting opportunity for a Civil Engineer III.

The successful candidate will improve the quality of life in Northern Colorado by designing built communities where we live, work, and play.

The key responsibilities of a Civil Engineer III include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform engineering design, prepare technical reports, and understand engineering principles.
  • Provide support for entitlement or public processes.
  • Communicate with internal and external project teams and clients and provide direction, coordination, quality assurance, and quality control to less experienced engineers.
  • Participate in construction administration and observation.

The Company

Northern Engineering takes great pride in the clients and partners we serve.  We are grateful for the recognition of our technical expertise, exceptional customer service, and our passion for building strong communities. While we have earned numerous design awards by being part of fantastic project teams, some of our most meaningful accolades have been the Best Small Business and Best Place to Work awards by the Coloradoan.

We improve the quality of life in local communities.  Our municipal team supports our growing northern Colorado communities by providing design review, public works services, and design for capital improvement projects.  At the same time, our private development group supports the built environment and provides the places that our fellow residents need to live, work, and play.

We spend our weekends golfing at courses that we have engineered and having dinner or shopping at the commercial and retail developments we have brought to life.  Many of our staff live in the residential neighborhoods that we designed.  We ride our bikes, and our children play at parks and trails where our team's attention to detail envisioned every trip down the slide and curve in the path.  Our partnerships with municipalities, school districts, higher education institutions, and the local home building and development community allow us to serve our families and future generations in northern Colorado.

Total Compensation

Northern Engineering offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a competitive market salary.  Other benefits include medical, dental, and vision plans, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, paid time off, and ten paid annual holidays.   Additionally, Northern Engineering offers a 401(k) with discretionary match, a 529 plan, and a wellness program.  We reward success with a bonus plan based on company, team, and individual performance targets.
