The Role

Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking for a progressive step in your career? If so, a leading practice of chartered quantity surveyors want to hear from you.  We have a couple of roles available for the right candidates.

Is the thought of returning to a daily commute to London no longer appealing?  We are a Maidstone based company, looking for Kent based Quantity surveyors. We have opportunities for surveyors to work on a number of projects in London and the South East based from our offices which can also be mixed with some home working.  You can still visit the site without the daily commute.

If so, we are interested in speaking with you.

Alternatively, you may be someone that prefers to be almost entirely office based or working from home.   If so, we may have the perfect role for you predominantly assisting with pre – contract duties.

The key responsibilities of the Quantity Surveyor for the pre contract role include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in establishing a client’s requirements and undertake feasibility studies
  • Prepare cost plans for projects at various stages
  • Instigate value engineering when required
  • Meet clients and design team members when required
  • Track any changes to the design or actual work and adjust budget projections
  • Prepare tender documentation in accordance with procedures manual. 
  • Prepare pre – tender estimates
  • Attend pre and post tender interviews with contractors
  • Issue tender documents and respond to tenderers queries
  • Check tenders and raise queries and prepare tender reports
  • Draft contract documents and trade contracts, etc
  • Provide procurement advice to design team and clients
  • Organise tenders based on single stage, two stage or construction management basis.

The Person

The key skills and qualities of a Quantity Surveyor:

  • MRICS desirable but essential - WE ARE MORE INTERESTED IN YOU AS A PERSON AND YOUR ABILITY TO UNDERTAKE THE WORK.
  • Experience with NRM2 (SMM7) form of measurement; conversant with JCT and NEC forms of contract  
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proven negotiating skills and a strong knowledge of quantity surveying methods and techniques.
  • Analytical skills, with an eye for detail and aptitude for maths; Good computer skills including MS suite, RIPAC (training can be provided) also required.
