Element Energy, a dynamic startup reimagining energy storage and battery management, is seeking a Senior Environmental Health and Safety Manager to play a pivotal role in creating, implementing, and maintaining systems, processes, and methods that safeguard our team members and properties. Your expertise will be integral in our battery testing and high-voltage electrical testing operations.

This is a fully onsite role, with the possibility of domestic and international travel to oversee safety practices at various locations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and sustain compliance practices aligned with local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines.
• Establish and manage a comprehensive Lithium-Ion Battery Safety and Training Program, encompassing safety, fire protection, and emergency response.
• Create and oversee a High-Voltage Electrical Safety and Training Program, focusing on safety protocols, fire protection, and emergency response.
• Provide safety-oriented input for Facilities and Testing infrastructure design and build-out projects.
• Develop frameworks for adherence to battery handling, storage, and transportation requirements (UN, DOT, NFPA, etc.).
• Coordinate efforts related to universal and hazardous waste disposal and battery recycling initiatives.
• Lead emergency response efforts, ensuring swift and effective actions during critical situations.

The Person

• Bachelor of Science degree in Safety Management, Fire Safety/Science, Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial), or a related field.
• NPFA 70E Electrical Safety Certification.
• Background in IEC, UL, IATA, IMDG DOT Haz Mat training.
• 3-5 years of direct experience supporting battery testing or high voltage electrical testing in a safety role.
• Proven experience in establishing and managing safety compliance programs.
• Expertise in battery/electrical safety and storage systems.
• Strong familiarity with Lithium-Ion battery safety protocols.
• Proficiency in managing battery shipping compliance.
• Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
