The Role

Are you a newly qualified (ICAS or ICAEW) chartered accountant or an ACCA qualified member?  If so, Mackay & Co, a leading and expanding independent firm of chartered accountants, are looking for a Chartered Accountant, based in their Golspie office.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of general accounting and taxation advice and support, with the opportunity to move into more specialised areas dependent upon interest or experience.

The key responsibilities of a Chartered Accountant include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing statutory reports from client records.
  • Using SAGE, Xero and Quickbooks software packages for a large variety of companies.
  • Dealing with their own portfolio of clients.
  • Taking responsibility for client affairs.
  • Building excellent client-firm relationships.

The Person

The key skills and qualities include:

  • A driving licence is essential as the role may entail travel to other offices.
  • Competency in taxation work, self-assessment, and the filing of returns with HMRC and accounts at Companies House.
  • Proven experience working in general accountancy practice, engaging with clients and developing sound trusted relationships.
  • Accustomed to significant autonomy dealing with their own portfolio of clients, responsible for their affairs, and for building good client-firm relationships.
  • Comfortable working as part of a team, and utilising resource from across the firm as appropriate to get the job done.
  • Ideally a newly qualified (ICAS or ICAEW) chartered accountant, but an ACCA qualified member will be considered.
