Position Summary

Edwards Moving & Rigging is seeking a detail-oriented and driven Estimator to support our sales and project management team by preparing accurate cost estimates for heavy rigging, transportation, and industrial projects. This role plays a critical part in securing new work by analyzing project requirements, developing competitive bids, and collaborating closely with operations and engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review project plans, specifications, and scope of work to determine labor, equipment, and material requirements
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for rigging, heavy haul, transport, and specialty projects, including Third-party/vendor services (cranes, trucking, escorts, engineering, etc.)
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes
  • Collaborate with Sales, Project Managers, Engineers, and Operations to develop execution strategies and pricing
  • Support the sales team in developing proposals and bid submissions
  • Perform site visits and attend pre-bid meetings as needed
  • Identify risks, constraints, and opportunities within project scopes
  • Maintain and update historical cost data for future estimating accuracy
  • Assist in project handoff upon award
  • Analyze project scope documents, RFQs, and customer requirements
  •  Ensure all estimates reflect accurate, current, and validated cost data
  • Develop budgetary estimates, detailed estimates, and customer-facing pricing structures

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–5 years of estimating experience in heavy industrial, rigging, or related industries preferred
  • Strong understanding of equipment, logistics, and field operations
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, technical project documents, and logistics requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel required); estimating software experience preferred
  • Strong analytical, cost modeling, organizational, and communication skills
  • Excellent written communication and proposal development skills
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with heavy lift planning, crane operations, or specialized transport
  • Familiarity with industrial sectors such as power generation, manufacturing, or infrastructure
  • Experience with complex, multi-scope projects preferred
