Join Our Mains Team in Tayside – Make a Real Difference Every Day!

At Scottish Autism we acknowledge the specialist support our staff provide to autistic individuals, therefore those doing support work are known as Autism Practitioners.

At Scottish Autism, our Autism Practitioners do more than support – they empower. You’ll be supporting people who enjoy active days out, so good communication skills and confidence engaging in community-based activities is important. The people we support enjoy activities including a variety of community activities such as bowling, going to the cinema, going out on day trips, visiting wildlife centres and long walks. A driver is essential.

Autism Practitioners work as part of a team to:

  • Continually develop and implement personalised support plans for the supported person,
  • Build positive relationships with the supported people,
  • Work in partnership with the supported person, their family, support network and health professionals,
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure the person’s life goals and aspirations are at the centre of their support.

On a day-to-day basis, Autism Practitioners enable people to:

  • Make informed choices using their preferred communication methods,
  • Take part in their chosen activities, attending local events, shopping, going on holiday etc. Practitioners can expect to go out and about with supported individuals to places of interest,
  • Complete all necessary tasks which enable them to maintain their homes, including paying bills and supporting them to make the decisions that matter to them.
  • Live as independently as possible with support with various life skills and may include support with personal care.

We’re especially keen to hear from those who can be flexible in their approach while following established support plans. This role suits someone who is outgoing, proactive, and able to build positive connections.

Join us and become part of a team driven by compassion, collaboration, and real change.

As part of your role, you will be required to undertake shift work, including weekends and evenings.
