The Role

Could you lead music that uplifts and inspires during sacred moments? Do you have the skill and confidence to support a Catholic congregation through song and liturgy?

We’re looking for a skilled and organized Music Director/Accompanist to provide musical support for three Catholic Masses each Sunday at Ramstein Air Base. This part-time position also includes occasional services for holy days, memorials, and rehearsals. You will collaborate closely with the Senior Catholic Chaplain, guiding the musical aspects of worship and leading both congregation and choir.

This is a part-time, 1099 contract.

Position contingent upon contract award.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide music (piano or organ) for:

                           i.          Three Sunday Catholic Masses

                          ii.          Special services, including holy days and funerals

  • Lead and conduct weekly rehearsals (up to 90 annually)
  • Coordinate music selections with the Chaplain
  • Serve as cantor or train others to lead vocally
  • Prepare preludes, interludes, and postludes appropriate to each service
  • Maintain and return government-owned music and equipment
  • Recruit, train, and manage choir volunteers
  • Submit seasonal music plans four weeks in advance
  • Ensure copyright compliance and proper handling of volunteer agreements

The Person

  • 2+ years of college study in music or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience on piano or organ in a church setting
  • Capable of reading and interpreting liturgical music, including Gregorian Chant and traditional Catholic hymns
  • Able to vocally lead or train others to do so
  • Organized, proactive, and collaborative in approach
