About the Opportunity
Cal Land Engineering & Associates, Inc. is a growing provider of land surveying, civil, and geotechnical engineering services. We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Brea, CA. This is an exciting opportunity to lead meaningful projects, collaborate with experienced professionals, and play a vital role in the success and growth of our Geotechnical Division.
Please note: Applicants must be based in the U.S. and have relevant U.S. work experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow all safety rules, guidelines, and standards for every project. Participate in pre-task planning and promptly report any safety concerns.
- Lead and manage geotechnical projects, including task delegation and staff oversight.
- Conduct technical reviews of geotechnical reports and addenda letters for quality and accuracy.
- Perform a wide range of geotechnical analyses including:
- Shallow and deep foundation design (vertical and lateral capacity)
- Settlement and liquefaction analyses
- Slope stability studies
- Retaining wall recommendations and grading evaluations
- (Experience with ground motion evaluations is a plus)
- Provide clear and practical geotechnical recommendations for both private and public sector projects.
- Oversee construction-phase geotechnical services to ensure implementation of recommendations.
- Support business development efforts; generating work from existing or new clients is a plus.
- Exercise sound professional judgment and take initiative with minimal supervision.
Qualifications
- California PE license, GE licensure or on track to obtain it preferred.
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of U.S.-based geotechnical engineering and project management experience.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
- Strong technical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset.
