We are looking for an Assistant Director of Student Services and Support to oversee and improve student life at American College Dublin (ACD). You will play a key role in shaping student life, fostering an inclusive and engaging environment.

This role involves managing events, activities, and excursions, providing student support and ensuring student concerns are represented at senior management level.

This is a full-time, on-campus position (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday) with occasional weekend and after-hours work for events and excursions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Event & Activity Management: Plan, execute, and oversee a variety of student events, activities, and excursions that align with student interests and institutional goals.
  • Student Union & Extracurricular Engagement: Supervise the Student Union and provide guidance to student leaders, reviewing club proposals and supporting extracurricular activities. Represent students in senior management meetings, advocating for their needs and concerns. Support and develop student leaders, guiding student-run initiatives and leadership opportunities.
  • Student Support & Wellness: Offer consultations on wellness, academic writing, time management, and personal development, acting as a resource for students. Promote an inclusive environment where all students feel valued and represented.
  • Excursions & Special Activities: Organize and lead student excursions, including weekend trips, ensuring meaningful and well-managed experiences. Being the point of contact for study abroad groups.
  • Discipline, Incident & Crisis Management: Oversee student non-academic discipline, manage incident reports, and address behavioural probation cases. Act as the point of contact for students in crisis situations, managing incidents and ensuring appropriate follow-up.
  • Orientation Program Leadership: Oversee the planning, execution, and leadership of student orientation, including training and leading orientation leaders, scheduling events, and managing logistics. Manage and organize all documentation related to orientation planning.
  • Accommodation Support: Provide guidance on housing and assist with accommodation-related queries.
  • Administrative Support: Provide written and other materials and attend meetings as required for administrative purposes such as accreditation renewal, graduation etc.  Working with academic office on student attendance follow up and compiling student class evaluations.

The Person

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree required; Postgraduate degree (MA, MPhil, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 2–3 years of experience in student affairs, group management, or a related field.
    • Prior experience working directly with students in a student services or extracurricular capacity is highly preferred.
    • Experience in orientation/induction planning or leading/mentoring students is highly desirable.
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Strong organizational, event management, and student support skills.
    • Crisis management experience and the ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism.
    • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with fluency in English.
    • Ability to manage and develop student leadership and student-run initiatives.
    • Empathetic, proactive, and solution-oriented people person, with a strong commitment to student success.
    • Proficiency in event planning and communication tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with various departments.
    • Social media experience and ability to create unique video and photo content.
