We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Shim Section Supervisor/Tool Maker to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the production of high-quality shim parts, ensuring they are manufactured efficiently and meet all deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and motivate the Shim team, setting high standards for quality, engineering skills, and overall conduct.
- Manage, assess, and report on the productivity and any challenges within the Shim section.
- Closely monitor ongoing work to ensure parts are completed on time, and proactively address any potential delays with the Operations Manager or Production Planner.
- Utilize your expertise in manual lathes and presses to set up jobs for the team.
- Ensure raw materials are dispensed, handled, and stored correctly.
- Work collaboratively with the Quality Lead to identify and resolve quality issues.
- Conduct daily inspections of the Shim Section, upholding all health and safety regulations.
- Foster strong relationships with other departments to guarantee exceptional customer service.
- Continuously seek ways to improve processes within the organization, with a particular focus on Shim manufacturing.
- Participate in cross-functional improvement teams as required by the business.
- Play a key role in developing and supporting our apprentices.

Boneham & Turner Ltd is a leading manufacturer and supplier of tooling components and precision engineered components in the UK. With over 100 years’ experience in the manufacture and supply of Jig Bushes, Drill Bushes, Dowel Pins, Jig & Fixture Parts, Press Tool Components, Shims, Koenig Sealing Plugs, Engineered Pins, Clevis Pins and special components to customer specific drawings.
Benefits:
- Monday to Thursday 8am – 4:30pm, Friday 8am – 1pm.

The Person
- You possess extensive experience in tool making and operating manual lathes and presses.
- You are proficient in setting up and using both power presses and hand presses.
- You can confidently read and interpret measurements using micrometres and verniers.
- You consistently prioritize the needs of the customer in all your work.
- You have a strong understanding of health and safety protocols in a manufacturing environment.
- You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- You are a meticulous and methodical worker who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
- You excel at multitasking and meeting deadlines.
