Catholic Coordinator – $20 - $30/hour – Iwakuni, Japan

The Role

We are seeking a Catholic Coordinator of Religious Education (CRE) to support the Catholic faith community at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Iwakuni, Japan. This is a part-time contracted role, averaging 13 hours per week, ideal for someone who is organized, communicative, and eager to make a meaningful difference.

As the Catholic CRE, you will work closely with the Chaplain and Priest to coordinate all Catholic religious education activities, including youth and adult programs. You'll play a central role in organizing events, training volunteers, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations of the chapel's education ministry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and oversee weekly Religious Education (CCD) programs (approx. 30 sessions per year)
• Coordinate OCIA and Adult Faith Formation programs
• Support preparation for sacraments such as Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation
• Organize special events, pilgrimages, retreats, and Bishop visits
• Recruit and train adult volunteer catechists
• Maintain student and volunteer records and manage registration
• Forecast program needs and submit quarterly plans and reports
• Draft promotional materials and coordinate communications
• Attend monthly chapel meetings and submit monthly and annual reports

The Person

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has at least one year of relevant experience in religious education or program coordination
• Holds a high school diploma or equivalent
• Can communicate clearly in English, both written and verbal
• Is organized, dependable, and respectful in a leadership role
• Has a clean background check (required prior to hiring)
