The Role

Are you a skilled Maintenance Technician looking for a new opportunity to make a difference? If so, we have the perfect role for you!

Join our team at Westway Trust and be a crucial part of maintaining our organisation to the highest standards. As a Building Maintenance Technician, you'll undertake planned, reactive maintenance and property refurbishment works on the Trust’s estate in a pro-active manner and in accordance with statutory obligations and/or best practice. You will deliver these in a timely and cost-effective manner across both common and rental spaces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify maintenance and repair needs across Trust estate as part of the maintenance team.
  • Lead carpentry-specific maintenance tasks, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
  • Perform planned and unplanned maintenance works, adhering to budget and timelines.
  • Maintain accurate service records and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Prepare risk assessments and method statements for maintenance works, reviewing them annually.
  • Manage maintenance stock levels and keep stock rooms and workshops organized.
  • Facilitate access for contractors and utility providers, providing necessary induction and supervision.
  • Issue Permits to Work to contractors, following the Trust's Facilities Manager's approval.
  • Comply with health and safety regulations related to workplace and practices.
  • Support the Westway Trust Fire Officer in fire safety inspections and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with grounds, gardens, and operational staff for overall estate maintenance.

The Person

  • H&S experience/qualification
  • Electrical, carpentry and plumbing experience/qualification
  • Experience of working across a multiple site facility.
  • A strong understanding of health and safety implications.
  • Risk assessment and risk management awareness/experience.
  • Experience of working within a customer service environment.
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplined team.
