The Role

Are you an experienced worship leader who can guide a congregation with confidence and musical excellence? Do you have the vocal ability and team leadership skills to create meaningful Contemporary Protestant worship experiences?

This is a rewarding opportunity for a Protestant Contemporary Music Director to support the faith community at Whiteman Air Force Base. You’ll play a key role in creating engaging services that support service members and their families in practising their faith.

As a Protestant Contemporary Music Director, you will lead Contemporary worship in line with Protestant traditions. You will work closely with the Senior Protestant Chaplain to plan services, rehearse the worship team, and deliver music that inspires and connects with the congregation.

This position is paid per service, rehearsal, or meeting (up to two hours per unit), with up to 112 units available annually at $60 per hour.

As a Protestant Contemporary Music Director, you will lead Contemporary worship in line with Protestant traditions. You will work closely with the Senior Protestant Chaplain to plan services, rehearse the worship team, and deliver music that inspires and connects with the congregation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead music for weekly Contemporary Protestant worship services and special events
  • Select and plan worship songs with the Senior Protestant Chaplain
  • Direct and rehearse the worship team at least once per week
  • Provide music selections to team members at least 24 hours before rehearsal
  • Recruit and support volunteer musicians and vocalists of all ages
  • Help set up and pack down musical equipment as required
  • Arrive in good time for rehearsals and services
  • Maintain a record of work completed
  • Work collaboratively with chapel staff and volunteers
  • Follow all applicable Air Force, federal, and chapel guidelines

The Person

To succeed as a Protestant Contemporary Music Director, you will have:

  • Strong vocal ability (video submission required)
  • Knowledge of Protestant Contemporary worship traditions
  • Experience planning and leading worship services
  • Ability to lead a team and build a positive group culture
  • Confidence performing solo and with a team
  • Ability to read sheet music (preferred) or work from chords
  • Instrument skills (keyboard or guitar preferred but not essential)
  • Familiarity with sound systems and worship presentation software
  • Ability to pass required background checks
