As Food and Nutrition Services Director, you will oversee the full child nutrition service across Pleasanton ISD. This is a district-wide leadership role with real influence, combining strategic planning with hands-on oversight. You will ensure students receive safe, nutritious meals that meet all regulatory standards, while supporting schools with smooth, well-organised food service operations.

The Food and Nutrition Services Director willwork closely with campus leaders, central teams and external bodies to deliver a service that is efficient, compliant, and student-focused.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all district food service programmes.
  • Plan and oversee menus that meet nutritional and regulatory requirements.
  • Work with campus principals on lunch schedules and staffing matters.
  • Manage free and reduced lunch processes in line with USDA and TEA guidance.
  • Maintain clear written procedures for food service operations.
  • Ensure all reporting, records, and payroll information are accurate and on time.
  • Develop and manage budgets, ensuring cost control and value for money.
  • Oversee purchasing, inventory systems, and supplier contracts.
  • Recruit, train, support, and review food service staff.
  • Ensure safe food handling, clean environments, and strong safety practices.

The Person

You will:

  • Bring significant experience in food service management, ideally within education or large-scale operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent educational experience with academic major in food and nutrition, dietetics, home and consumer sciences, food service management, nutrition education, culinary arts, business, or a related field**
  • Eight hours of food safety training (completed not more than five years prior to employee’s start date or within 30 days of employee’s start date)
  • Five years experience in food service management
  • Three years experience in food service environment
  • Have strong organisational skills.
  • Have the confidence to manage people and budgets and the ability to work calmly under pressure.
  • A relevant degree or recognised alternative qualification, food safety training.
  • Have a valid Texas driver’s licence.
