Art Music Therapy Teacher – $25-$35/hr, commensurate with experience – Aurora, CO

The Role

Could you inspire Veterans through hands-on creativity? Do you have experience teaching a range of art techniques and working with small groups?

We're looking for a skilled Art Teacher to lead weekly art therapy sessions for Veterans at Valor Point, part of the VA Eastern Colorado Healthcare System in Lakewood, CO. You'll run engaging, hands-on classes introducing a variety of art forms aimed at supporting wellness and creative expression. Classes are held Wednesdays from 3–5 PM for 4 weeks per medium, cycling through 12 different types over the course of a year.

This is a part-time, 1099 contract position.

Please note: Candidates selected for an interview will be required to provide supporting documents, such as degree certificates, transcripts, and professional certifications.

Position contingent upon contract award.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach weekly 2-hour art classes (1 medium per 4-week block)
• Provide all materials (except kiln, molds, and glazes)
• Offer instruction and one-on-one support for up to 6 Veterans
• Guide participants through creative processes, helping them finish personal projects
• Demonstrate safe and proper use of materials
• Maintain accurate attendance logs and comply with VA facility requirements 

The Person

We're looking for someone who:

• Has experience teaching visual arts
• Is confident in multiple mediums, such as acrylics, ceramics, leatherwork, and woodworking
• Communicates clearly and follows simple procedures
• Presents themselves professionally and reliably
• Can pass a background check before working with the VA
