Key Accountabilities

  • Health and Safety Compliance: Conduct all work within company depots and customer sites with strict adherence to health and safety protocols. Prioritise the well-being of yourself, colleagues, and clients while maintaining a safe and organised working environment with the highest standards of housekeeping.
  • Hazard Identification and Risk Mitigation: Fully comply with all company health and safety procedures, remaining vigilant in identifying potential hazards. Take proactive measures to mitigate risks, ensuring a safe workplace and minimising any threats to operational integrity.
  • Adherence to Safe Working Practices: Consistently follow established safe working practices to uphold operational efficiency and regulatory compliance. Implement best practices in all aspects of servicing, maintenance, and repair activities.
  • Comprehensive Fleet Maintenance and Fault Resolution: Conduct thorough inspections, servicing, repairs, and fault resolution for all hire fleet assets. Ensure optimal functionality and compliance with relevant regulations by diagnosing issues accurately and applying effective solutions.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Complete all relevant documentation promptly and accurately, recording details of inspections, repairs, and servicing. Clearly distinguish between fair wear and tear, customer-related damage, and warranty failures to maintain transparency and accountability.
  • Asset and Equipment Management: Take full responsibility for work tools, spare stock, and company-assigned vehicle. Ensure all equipment is properly maintained, adequately stocked, and ready for operational use. Always wear the correct PPE to uphold safety standards and professional integrity.
  • Training & Professional Development: Actively participate in all relevant training modules, delivered at various SRL depot locations, in accordance with the structured development plan. These modules are designed to enhance technical proficiency, operational efficiency, and compliance with industry standards. Engineers will be expected to engage fully in both theoretical and practical training sessions, ensuring they acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.

Key Skills

Essential:

  • No prior specific experience is required, as full training will be provided. However, given the nature of the role, candidates must possess a full UK driving license with no more than six penalty points (mandatory).
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills, with the ability to adapt to dynamic and evolving work demands in a professional manner.
  • Proactive problem-solving mindset with resourcefulness and initiative.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality customer experience, both internally and externally.
  • Safety-conscious approach, prioritising the well-being of oneself and others.
  • Organised, trustworthy, and self-motivated with keen attention to detail.

Desirable:

  • Basic electrical knowledge
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools
  • Familiarity with traffic light equipment
  • CSCS card holder certification
  • Competence in operating company vans and pickups up to 3.5 tonnes
  • Ability to tow a trailer carrying plant equipment
