The Role

Do you feel called to guide and support others in their Islamic faith? Can you lead services with integrity, care, and wisdom?

We are looking for an Imam to provide spiritual services to Muslim personnel, families, and detainees at the Naval Consolidated Brig (NCB), located at the Weapons Station on Joint Base Charleston. This is a part-time role (approx. 4 hours per week) offered on an as-needed basis.

You will lead Muslim worship and provide religious support in accordance with Islamic tradition and military requirements. You will also offer guidance, religious education, and spiritual care to those seeking support, whether they are practicing Muslims or exploring the faith

Please note: Candidates selected for an interview will be required to provide supporting documents, such as degree certificates, transcripts, and professional certifications.

Position contingent upon contract award.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead Islamic worship services, including Jumu’ah and Holy Day observances
• Provide instruction in Islamic studies, religious counselling, and spiritual guidance
• Prepare candidates for Ramadan and other Islamic rites
• Offer bereavement support and hospital visitation when needed
• Conduct pastoral interviews and provide spiritual mentorship
• Maintain confidentiality in all privileged communication 

The Person

To succeed in this role, you must:

• Be endorsed by the American Muslim Armed Forces and Veterans Affairs Council (or equivalent recognized body)
• Hold a Master of Divinity (or equivalent) from an accredited institution
• Have strong understanding of Islamic rites and military religious requirements
• Be compassionate, professional, and respectful in a multi-faith setting
• Communicate clearly across cultures and hierarchies
• Maintain strict confidentiality and professional boundaries
