Catholic Religious Education Coordinator - $18.00- $20.00 Per Hour (working 20 hours per week)– Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany

The Role

Would you enjoy helping to build a welcoming faith community while supporting children, families and adults on their spiritual journey? If so, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

We are looking for a Catholic Religious Education Coordinator to oversee and develop the Catholic Religious Education programme at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany. This is a rewarding part-time position where you will play a key role in supporting sacramental preparation, faith formation and community life while working alongside the Catholic Chaplain.

You will lead a comprehensive Catholic Religious Education programme for children, young people and adults. You'll organise sacramental preparation, support volunteers, manage programme resources and help create meaningful opportunities for the Catholic community to grow in faith.

No two weeks will be the same, giving you the opportunity to combine organisation, leadership and creativity in a role that makes a genuine difference.

This is a 1099 contract position, offering 20 hours per week (up to 80 hours per month), with a pay rate of $18–$20 per hour, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Catholic Religious Education and sacramental formation programmes
  • Coordinate First Communion, First Reconciliation, Confirmation, OCIA and Baptism preparation classes
  • Recruit, train and support volunteer catechists and classroom helpers
  • Manage volunteer background checks and badge administration
  • Maintain student attendance, sacramental and training records
  • Manage programme budgets, educational resources and purchasing requests
  • Prepare newsletters, bulletins, calendars, social media posts and promotional materials
  • Organise seasonal faith events, retreats, outings and parish activities
  • Visit classrooms to maintain high standards and ensure learning spaces are prepared
  • Attend meetings and represent the Catholic parish when required
  • Work closely with the Catholic Chaplain to support the ongoing development of the programme

The Person:

To be successful in this role, you'll be able to support and deliver Catholic Religious Education programmes in accordance with the requirements of the Archdiocese for the Military Services USA.

You'll also have:

  • Eligibility to meet the requirements for Catholic Religious Education leadership under Archdiocese for the Military Services guidance
  • AMS Catechist certification, or the ability to obtain it within six months
  • Youth Protection Training through VIRTUS Online or Scouting America
  • At least three years' experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Experience using Canva would be an advantage
  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • The ability to work respectfully within a religiously pluralistic environment
  • The ability to obtain a favourable background check
  • Registration with the System for Award Management (SAM) before contract award
