The Role

Are you an experienced carpenter, framer, deck builder, or home exterior installer who takes pride in doing the job properly? Do you enjoy building high-quality outdoor spaces that customers can enjoy for years?

Montell Construction is looking for a skilled Deck & Sunroom Builder to join our growing team in Grand Rapids, MI. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with solid experience in deck building, framing, carpentry, home building, exterior construction, screen rooms, patio enclosures, or three and four-season sunrooms.

You will be working on a range of outdoor living projects, including wood and composite decks, railings, framing, and pre-fabricated sunroom enclosure systems. Paid training is provided for our specific products and installation methods, but we are looking for someone who already has strong practical construction experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Construct decks from start to finish, including framing, decking boards, stairs, and railings
• Build and install sunroom and patio enclosure systems, including glass panels and roofing components
• Work with wood and composite decking materials
• Use carpentry and framing techniques to deliver strong, accurate, high-quality work
• Follow plans, measurements, and building requirements

The Ideal Candidate

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in framing, carpentry, deck building, home building, or exterior construction
• Confident with basic deck building, including wood and composite materials
• Reliable, safety-conscious, and proud of their craftsmanship
• Good team attitude and strong work ethic
• Comfortable working outdoors and on active job sites
• Reliable transportation
• Valid driver’s licence required
• Clean background required
