Junior Project Cost Estimator - $132k to $140k

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Do you have experience estimating costs for construction facilities or school construction projects? Are you ready to support project teams with accurate estimates, clear analysis, and strong communication?

The role

We are seeking a Junior Project Cost Estimator to join our team in Los Angeles, CA. In this role, you will support construction project teams by preparing independent cost estimates, reviewing contractor proposals, and assisting with change order and claim analysis.

You will help Project Managers and Construction Managers understand project costs and prepare for negotiations with designers and contractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare preliminary independent cost estimates for construction projects
  • Assist with change order estimates for Owner Authorized Representatives
  • Support price negotiations by providing clear cost data
  • Prepare claim analysis and related estimates
  • Develop detailed construction cost estimates from drawings, specifications, and sketches
  • Review contractor claims and proposals for merit and accuracy
  • Research recent cost and price changes in supplies and services
  • Develop scopes of work based on RFI/RFC responses
  • Compare independent estimates with contractor proposals to identify differences

The person

You will need:

  • Two years of full-time paid professional experience in construction estimating for facilities or school construction
  • Knowledge of current local construction labor and material costs
  • Experience developing and estimating scopes of work for change orders
  • Ability to compare independent cost estimates with contractor proposals
  • Strong fact-finding and in-depth analysis skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • A bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university in engineering, architecture, or construction management
