Service Engineer – £33,000 with an increase after successfully completing the probation period of 6 months – Central Scotland

Are you an engineer who enjoys fault finding and fixing problems properly the first time? Do you take pride in delivering a reliable service while working independently on the road?

Silver Sockets is a market leader in the service and repair of mobile and static welfare cabins, and we are looking for Service Engineers to join us in Central Scotland and Slough.

The role

This is a field-based position where no two days are the same. You will travel to customer sites to service and repair welfare cabins, dealing with both planned maintenance and unexpected breakdowns.

You will be trusted to manage your own workload, diagnose issues, and carry out repairs to a high standard. Just as important, you will represent Silver Sockets professionally when dealing with customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend scheduled jobs and reactive call outs
  • Diagnose faults and complete repairs, aiming for a first-time fix
  • Carry out routine maintenance and servicing
  • Complete clear and accurate service reports, including photos where needed
  • Manage van stock, tools, and equipment
  • Follow health and safety guidelines at all times
  • Work with other engineers to share knowledge and improve ways of working

About our company

Silver Sockets has built a strong reputation for keeping welfare cabins running safely and efficiently. We focus on practical solutions, dependable service, and supporting our engineers to do their job well.

The Benefits

  • Company pension
  • Overtime available
  • Weekend work available
  • Full-time, permanent role
  • Training provided where needed

The person

You will need:

  • Solid electrical experience and a mechanical understanding
  • A methodical approach to fault finding
  • Confidence working on your own in a mobile role
  • Good organisation to manage stock and equipment
  • Comfortable using a laptop or tablet for reports
  • A clear understanding of health and safety
  • A full UK driving licence (maximum 3 points) with Category BE entitlement

It would be helpful if you also have:

  • Knowledge of solar systems
  • Experience with telemetry or PLCs
  • Familiarity with Victron systems
  • Basic IT networking knowledge (TCP/IP)
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
