As the Catholic Religious Education Coordinator, you will organise and deliver a structured Catholic Religious Education (RE) programme for children and young people aged 18 and under at Los Angeles Air Force Base.

Working under the guidance of the Catholic Priest and in line with the Archdiocese for the Military Services, you will lead weekly religious education classes and manage the overall RE programme. The Catholic Religious Education Coordinator will help create a welcoming learning environment where children can develop their faith, prepare for sacraments, and build a stronger connection to the Catholic community.

This is a part-time role working approximately 14 hours per week, including Sunday teaching at 9:05am.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver weekly Catholic religious education classes for children and youth
• Organise and manage the full Catholic RE programme from pre-school through 12th grade
• Coordinate sacramental preparation such as First Reconciliation and Confirmation
• Register students and maintain programme and attendance records
• Recruit, train and support volunteers assisting with the RE programme
• Plan and lead monthly teacher training sessions and semi-annual training events
• Coordinate youth ministry activities including retreats, trips and approved events
• Assist with Vacation Bible School in partnership with the Protestant RE programme
• Order approved teaching materials and ensure adequate supplies are maintained
• Prepare an annual programme calendar and provide quarterly programme updates

The Person:

• Confirmation as a Roman Catholic in good standing
• At least 3 years’ experience in religious education, CCD teaching, administration, or teacher training
• A high school diploma or GED
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• Basic computer and word processing skills
• The ability to work effectively with chaplain staff, volunteers and families
• The ability to pass a background check for working with children
• Willingness to complete AMS Safe Environment Training and Religious Education certification
