The role

Commander, Fleet Activities Chinhae (CFAC) Chapel is seeking a Music Director to lead and support worship music for Sunday services and seasonal religious events. This part-time 1099 contract role gives you the opportunity to use your piano skills in a setting where your music genuinely matters to the congregation.

Your work will help create welcoming, uplifting worship experiences for the U.S. Navy community stationed in Chinhae, Republic of Korea. Each service brings together service members, families, and civilians who rely on the chapel as a place of connection, reflection, and encouragement.

The role supports approximately 113 services per year and pays $50 per hour, based on experience. Services are held at CFAC Chapel, Building 771.

The initial performance period runs April 1, 2026 – March 31, 2027, with the possibility of annual extensions through March 2031.

  • Select music that fits the theme and style of each service, helping the congregation connect with the message
  • Provide piano accompaniment for Sunday Catholic Mass and Protestant worship services
  • Start congregational songs with vocal cues so worship begins smoothly
  • Support special services and seasonal events including Christmas, Holy Week, Ash Wednesday, and New Year services
  • Arrive at least 15 minutes before services to prepare and coordinate with the chapel team
  • Work closely with the CFAC Chaplain and Religious Ministry Team to plan music for upcoming services
  • The schedule includes approximately 106 Sunday services and 7 seasonal services each year.

  • Confidence starting songs vocally when needed
