Catholic Coordinator of Religious Education – $18–$20/hour based on experience - MCAS Iwakuni, Japan

Looking for meaningful work that strengthens your faith while serving others?
Want a flexible, part-time role where you can lead, connect, and make a real difference in the lives of military families?

This is more than a job. It’s a calling. As the Catholic Coordinator of Religious Education (CRE) at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, you’ll help people grow closer to God—while deepening your own spiritual journey in a close-knit overseas community.

The Benefits

Here’s what makes this role worth it:

  • Flexible, part-time hours (1099 contract)
  • Freedom to shape programs and build community your way
  • Resources provided—materials, space, and full chapel support
  • An inspiring setting on a US military base in Japan
  • A purpose-driven role where your faith and leadership matter

The Role

You’ll lead and coordinate all Catholic education efforts on base—helping kids, teens, and adults grow in their faith. You’ll work closely with the chapel team and local volunteers to bring faith to life through weekly classes, special events, and sacraments.

What You’ll Do (And Why It Matters)

  • Run Sunday religious education classes (CCD): Give kids a strong Catholic foundation that stays with them for life
  • Support adult faith journeys (OCIA and formation): Guide adults seeking deeper faith or preparing for sacraments
  • Plan meaningful events: Organize First Communion prep, Confirmation, retreats, and seasonal traditions like Stations of the Cross—helping families grow in faith together
  • Build and lead a volunteer team: Empower others to teach and serve, creating strong relationships and a true sense of community
  • Keep things organized: From rosters to supply orders and flyers, you’ll keep the program running smoothly and professionally

You’ll Be Great At This If You:

  • Are a practicing Catholic with 1+ year of experience in faith education
  • Love teaching and encouraging people of all ages
  • Are confident leading others and managing logistics
  • Can communicate clearly and stay organized
  • Hold a high school diploma or GED
  • Can pass a background check (you’ll work with children)
  • Are part of the DoD community
