The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Junior Health & Safety Site Representative to support a fast-paced construction project in Pickering, Ontario. This is a fully on-site role suited for someone early in their health and safety career who is eager to gain hands-on experience in an active construction environment.
Reporting to the Health & Safety team, you will work closely with Site Superintendents, Project Managers, and subcontractors to support daily safety operations, promote a strong safety culture, and ensure compliance with Ontario’s construction health and safety requirements.
This role is ideal for a motivated individual who is detail-oriented, confident on site, and passionate about learning and growing in the field of construction safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Support daily on-site health and safety activities on an active construction project
- Conduct regular site inspections and hazard identification walks
- Assist with Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), toolbox talks, and safety meetings
- Support onboarding and orientation of workers and subcontractors
- Monitor compliance with site safety rules, PPE requirements, and safe work practices
- Assist with incident reporting, investigations, and corrective action tracking
- Maintain accurate safety documentation and site records
- Liaise with site leadership and trades to address safety concerns proactively
- Support Ministry of Labour readiness and site compliance initiatives
Qualifications & Experience
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Construction Safety
- 0–2 years of experience in a construction or industrial safety role (co-op or internship experience welcomed)
- Working knowledge of Ontario OHSA and Construction Regulations (O. Reg. 213/91)
- Comfortable working full-time on an active construction site in all weather conditions
- Required / Preferred Certifications:
- Working at Heights (Ontario compliant)
- WHMIS 2015
- First Aid & CPR (Level C preferred)
- 4 or 5 Steps to Health & Safety (preferred or willingness to obtain)
- NCSO® designation not required (opportunity to work toward certification supported)

- Confident, approachable, and respectful when engaging with trades and site staff
- Strong Microsoft Office Suite knowledge and working experience
- Knowledge of SALUS compliance software
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Willingness to learn, ask questions, and take direction
- Ability to work independently while being part of a larger project team
