Position:                     Level 3 Robot Operator

Hours of Work:          Days Training – 7am to 4.30pm Mon-Thurs 7am to 11am Fri

Night Shift – Monday to Thursday 8pm to 6am

Rate of Pay:               £13.60 p/h day shift whilst training - £17.10 per hour nights shift

About the Role:

You will be responsible for the daily setup and operation of computer-controlled welding robots to perform one or more machine functions on steel products.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set up jigs and fixtures under supervision.
  • Keep jigs and fixtures in a healthy state.
  • Operate the robotic welding machines without direct supervision.
  • Be able to check components to engineering drawings taking advice from more experienced operators or the team leader.
  • Be able to check welds for quality and compliance.
  • Report problems to more experienced operators or the team leader.
  • Carry out maintenance checks on the robots and fill in the record sheets.
  • Load and unload material manually or with hoists or cranes, depending on weight and size.
  • Set up future jobs while robot is operating.
  • Do tasks as instructed by senior operators or team leader and assist other operators.
  • Enter data into Mie Trak.
  • Must be willing to work extended hours or shifts as requested
  • Ensure production schedule follow through as allocated by the Team Leader.  
  • Facilitate work-order paper flow in accordance with company procedure. 
  • Other duties assigned by Lead/Supervisor or Management.
  • Responsible for the safe and proper packaging, identifying, and moving of all finished products to the correct location.
  • Ensure all equipment is correctly set-up and used in a safe manner and that all safety devices are in use. 
  • Performs first piece dimensional inspections as well as all subsequent inspections as required by AET quality standards.
  • Monitor equipment and request maintenance when required.
  • Keep the department clean and tidy.
  • Follow company procedures as laid down in the staff handbook.
  • Work to the company 6s system.
  • Other job-related duties as may be necessary to carry out the responsibilities of this position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • One or more years’ experience operating a robotic welding cell. 
  • Ability to work well as a team member.
  • Understanding and support of Company policies and procedures.
  • Position requires the ability to operate precision measuring devices such as calipers, micrometres, protractors, and tape measures.
