Do you have hands-on experience with airfield construction on active airports? Are you skilled in ensuring FAA compliance and safety on complex paving projects?

Join the team supporting Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) as a Construction Inspector. You'll be a vital part of the Quality Assurance & Construction Inspection Division, working across multiple airfield projects within LAWA's Capital Improvement Program.

The Role
This is an on-site inspection position requiring flexibility to work nights, weekends, and variable shifts to meet the demands of active airfield construction schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect airfield construction activities including concrete and asphalt paving, base material installation, and earthwork
  • Ensure compliance with FAA specifications including P-501, P-401, P-201, and P-306
  • Conduct inspections of FAA airfield lighting systems and ensure proper installation of signage and pavement markings
  • Maintain airfield operational safety including FOD controls, security protocols, and coordination for runway/taxiway closures
  • Prepare accurate daily reports with maps, photos, and quantity tracking
  • Perform inspections at batch plants and review survey data for grade verification
  • Interpret utility plans and ensure safety compliance with Cal/OSHA and FAA regulations

The Person

  • Minimum 5 years of verified experience inspecting airfield construction on active airports
  • Skilled in FAA specifications and operational procedures
  • Proficient in technical report writing and documentation
  • Holds a current Cal/OSHA 30-hour card
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Desired: City of Los Angeles Deputy Inspector Licenses (Grading, Concrete)
  • Must be able to access the AOA and work various shifts
