Part-Time Jewish Rabbi Services – $50, commensurate with experience - Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, CA

The Role

Are you a dedicated Rabbi with a passion for serving others? Do you want to play a key role in supporting the spiritual needs of Jewish recruits at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego?

We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Jewish Rabbi to provide religious ministry and spiritual services for Jewish Marine Corps recruits at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) in San Diego. This contract role requires a commitment to weekly Sunday services, as well as special observances for Jewish holidays, in alignment with Jewish doctrine and military regulations.

As a Jewish Chaplain Services Contractor, you will work in collaboration with the Recruit Training Regiment Chaplain and any assigned military rabbis to ensure the free exercise of religion for Jewish recruits, fostering a supportive spiritual environment within the military.

This is a part -time, 1099 position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Weekly Religious Services: Lead a weekly Jewish service every Sunday and conduct special holiday services, including Rosh HaShana, Yom Kippur, Hanukkah, Passover, Sukkot, and Shavuot.
  • Religious Education: Provide religious education for Jewish recruits during services, ensuring adherence to Jewish doctrine and traditions.
  • Pastoral Care: Offer religious counseling, spiritual guidance, and support to Jewish recruits in accordance with Jewish teachings.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with military chaplains, religious staff, and volunteers to deliver effective services and ensure proper coordination.
  • Documentation: Prepare and submit reports and documentation related to services and activities to the Recruit Training Regiment at MCRD.
  • Compliance: Adhere to military regulations, Jewish doctrine, and religious ministry policies.

The Person

  • Ordination: Certified Rabbi in good standing with a recognized rabbinical authority.
  • Ecclesiastical Endorsement: Preferred but not required. Must establish a relationship with a recognized organization (Aleph or Jewish Welfare Board) within six months.
  • Background Check: Successful criminal background check at local, state, and national levels.
  • Military Knowledge: Understanding of military protocol and customs or willingness to learn within the first 90 days.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
