Catholic Coordinator of Religious Education – $18-$20, commensurate with experience - Twentynine Palms, CA

The Role

Are you experienced in coordinating Catholic religious education programs? Do you have a deep understanding of Catholic traditions, liturgy, and sacramental preparation?

We are looking for a Coordinator of Religious Education (CRE) to support the Religious Ministries Directorate at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC) in Twentynine Palms, CA. This position plays a key role in planning and overseeing all Catholic religious education programs and events. The CRE will work closely with the Director of Religious Ministries and the assigned Catholic priest.

This is an on-site, part -time, 1099 position that requires availability for some evening, weekend, and holiday work, based on chapel schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and support Catholic Masses, holy day services, and seasonal worship events
  • Train and coordinate volunteer liturgical ministers: lectors, altar servers, musicians, and ushers
  • Organize and lead religious education programs from pre-K through adult, including First Communion, Confirmation, and OCIA
  • Prepare weekly Catholic bulletins and coordinate chapel environment setup
  • Facilitate marriage preparation and infant baptism classes using approved curricula
  • Submit regular reports to the government representative and maintain accurate ministry records
  • Plan and conduct youth retreats and activities in coordination with the Catholic Youth Organization

The Person

  • Practicing Roman Catholic in good standing, with letters of recommendation from a pastor and another priest
  • At least 2 years of experience with Catholic religious education and liturgical coordination
  • Holds or can obtain within 180 days: Basic Catechist Certification, Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist certificate, and FOCCUS Facilitator qualification
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office tools and preparing detailed reports
  • Strong communicator in English, both written and verbal
  • Must pass a full background check per Department of Defense standards
