The Role

Do you have experience leading teams in residential youth care? Are you confident managing staff, overseeing programs, and making a difference in the lives of justice-involved youth?

Murray McKinnon Foundation (MMF) is hiring two full-time Supervisors to join our Residential Program team in Oshawa, ON. These roles support youth in open detention and custody by providing strong leadership, effective care coordination, and fostering a supportive, inclusive environment.

Supervisors are responsible for day-to-day leadership within the residential facility, working under the direction of the Director of Residential Services. One position rotates between 7am-3pm and 11am-7pm (Monday to Friday). The second works 3pm-11pm on a continental rotation, including every other weekend.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support a team of Youth Workers
  • Oversee scheduling, staff performance, mentoring, and training
  • Ensure safe and effective care of youth in custody
  • Support program development and compliance with licensing standards
  • Maintain strong relationships with community stakeholders
  • Monitor building maintenance and health/safety standards
  • Participate in on-call rotations
  • Contribute to system training and reporting using our automation system

The Person

We’re looking for candidates who bring:

  • A diploma (2-year minimum) or bachelor’s degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Criminology, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience working with high-risk youth
  • At least 2 years in a leadership or administrative role
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, anti-racist practices
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
  • Experience working with Indigenous, Black, and LGBTQ youth is an asset
  • A valid G driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Medical clearance and immunization records
  • Provision of an acceptable Broad Record Check
