Sandy Cove Ministries in North East, Maryland is seeking a full-time Director of Finance to lead our day-to-day financial operations.

This role will handle budgeting, reporting, audits, grants management and internal controls while ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and providing clear, timely financial reporting to guide decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and grants management.
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial reports for leadership, the board, and funders.
  • Lead annual budget development and monitor budget performance.
  • Provide financial forecasting for organizational planning.
  • Manage restricted and unrestricted fund accounting and grant compliance.
  • Coordinate the annual audit and liaise with external auditors.
  • Monitor cash flow and maintain banking relationships.
  • Supervise and mentor the Accounting team.
  • Evaluate and implement financial systems to improve efficiency.
  • Participate in annual strategic planning and advise on program pricing and sales performance.

The Person

  • Missionally-minded, practicing Christian growing in Christlikeness.
  • Commitment to the mission of Sandy Cove Ministries.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree or CPA preferred).
  • Minimum 5 + years of progressive accounting/financial management experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
  • Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards and fund accounting.
  • Experience with financial software such as Eagle Accounting Software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a small finance team.
