The Role

We are seeking a dedicated Protestant Director of Religious Education (PDRE) for the Naval Support Activity in Naples, Italy. This part-time role (maximum 12 hours per week) offers the chance to contribute to a fulfilling mission, working alongside a dedicated religious team to serve service members and their families.

This is a part-time, 1099 contract position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and deliver a Protestant Religious Education program for all age groups, from Pre-K to adults.
  • Coordinate with the Command Chaplain and senior Protestant Chaplain to ensure the effective delivery of the program.
  • Manage the Children’s Church program during worship services.
  • Maintain and organize classroom supplies, ensuring that all necessary resources are available.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets for the Religious Education program.
  • Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers for all educational programs.
  • Lead and organize outreach events for the military and civilian communities.
  • Coordinate and lead Vacation Bible School, managing logistics and volunteer participation.
  • Ensure all volunteers undergo criminal background checks and training.
  • Communicate regularly with parents about events, schedules, and expectations.

The Person

We are looking for someone with:

  • At least four years of documented experience leading Protestant religious programs.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • A strong understanding of military customs and traditions.
  • The ability to work independently, with good moral character and interpersonal skills.
