Protestant Service Musician – $18-$20, commensurate with experience – Charleston AFB , SC 29404

The Role

Do you have a heart for worship and the skill to lead music in a Protestant service? Are you confident guiding choirs and musicians in a liturgical setting?

We’re seeking a Protestant Service Musician to support Sunday services at the Air Base Chapel on Joint Base Charleston, located in North Charleston. This part-time opportunity offers 5 hours of meaningful work each week in a supportive and spiritually focused setting.

You'll take the lead in directing and performing the music for weekly Protestant worship services. This includes rehearsals, song selection, equipment setup, and collaborating with the chaplain to ensure music aligns with the service theme and message.

The expected time commitment is 5 hours per week, including rehearsal and Sunday performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead music at weekly Sunday services (11:00–12:30)
• Organise and conduct choir rehearsals
• Select and prepare worship songs across gospel, traditional and contemporary genres
• Coordinate musicians and support choir members
• Manage sound equipment setup and breakdown
• Support occasional special services or rehearsals as needed

The Person

• Can read and perform music confidently
• Have experience in a Protestant church or military chapel setting
• Are able to organise rehearsals and lead a choir
• Are punctual, professional, and reliable
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with chaplains and congregants
