Job Title: Solar Panel Installer (Experienced with Solar Installation)
Pay Rate: $25 - $30 an hour
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Solar Panel Installer to join a growing renewable energy team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient installation of photovoltaic (PV) solar panel systems on residential, commercial, and industrial rooftops or ground mounts. You must possess current WHMIS certification and an Aerial Work Platform (AWP) license, with a strong commitment to workplace safety and quality craftsmanship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install solar panels and support structures according to design specifications and building codes
- Measure, cut, and assemble the support structure for solar PV panels
- Ensure the system is grounded and installed to code
- Connect solar panels to the electrical system with proper wiring
- Use ladders, scaffolding, and aerial platforms to access installation sites safely
- Perform routine quality checks and troubleshooting during and after installation
- Work in compliance with company safety policies and provincial/federal regulations
- Maintain accurate records of materials used and project progress
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and customers
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in solar or construction installation preferred
- Valid WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) certification
- Valid Aerial Work Platform (AWP) / Elevated Work Platform certification (e.g., scissor lift, boom lift)
- Working at Heights certification (preferred)
- Comfortable working at heights and in various weather conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor
- Strong understanding of construction safety practices
- Basic electrical knowledge is an asset
- Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract
