Product Design Engineer – $80,000 - $105,000 (Base) – Wood Dale, IL

The Role

Do you have a strong background in injection molding and 3D CAD design? Ready to take ownership of new product development from concept to production?

If you’re a detail-focused engineer with experience in high-volume manufacturing and a flair for turning ideas into precision components, this role could be a perfect fit.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for developing new products and improving existing ones, using CREO to design injection-molded plastic parts. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, tooling, and quality, to bring products to market that meet performance and cost targets.

You’ll also review supplier tooling, support validation testing, and drive improvements throughout the design lifecycle.

If you’re ready to design products that make an impact, apply now and take your next step with a global engineering leader.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design injection-molded components and assemblies using CREO
  • Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to ensure cost-effective production
  • Create and maintain 3D models, 2D drawings, and supporting documentation
  • Review tooling designs and ensure feasibility with suppliers
  • Conduct tolerance analysis and validate designs via simulation or testing
  • Lead or support Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)
  • Participate in design reviews and FMEA sessions
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure smooth project delivery

Company:

We are a global manufacturer of precision components, trusted across the automotive, industrial, medical, and consumer sectors. Our team is built on innovation, collaboration, and delivering reliable solutions that perform in the real world.

Benefits:

  • Health, dental and vision insurance
  • 401(k) plan with company match
  • Paid holidays and time off
  • Clear progression paths and ongoing development opportunities

The Person

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or similar
  • 3+ years’ experience in a product design role within high-volume manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge of injection molding processes
  • Skilled in CREO and PDM/PLM systems
  • Understanding of GD&T, materials, and DFM principles
  • Able to manage multiple design projects at once
  • Excellent communicator and confident in cross-team collaboration

Desirable:

  • Experience working with international suppliers
  • Exposure to FEA or other design validation tools
  • Background in automotive, medical device, or industrial sectors
