Catholic Religious Education Coordinator – $18 - $20 per hour, commensurate with experience – Altus AFB, OK 73523

The Role

This role supports the Catholic Chaplain at Altus Air Force Base by coordinating Catholic Religious Education programs. You will oversee activities from Sunday School to sacramental preparation, ensuring all elements are well-organized, resourced, and delivered in line with the guidance from the Archdiocese for the Military Services (AMS).

Key Responsibilities:

• Organize and run Catholic Youth and Adult Religious Education programs
• Arrange classes for Baptism, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation
• Recruit, train, and support volunteer teachers and helpers
• Maintain records of attendance and training
• Ensure all volunteers have completed background checks
• Coordinate with the Catholic Chaplain on materials and curriculum
• Prepare publicity and manage supplies for RE events
• Develop and manage an annual calendar and budget
• Support seasonal programs linked to key liturgical events
• Attend meetings with chapel leadership and participate in inspections

The Person

To be considered for this role, you must:

• Be a practicing Catholic, confirmed and attending Mass at Altus AFB
• Have at least 3–5 years of experience in Catholic Religious Education, or 2 years as a Coordinator
• Be a certified catechist through AMS or actively working toward certification
• Hold a current Youth Protection Training certificate
• Be confident using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email)
• Work well with people of various faiths and backgrounds
• Be prepared to complete a background check and security forms
• Be available most Sundays (Sep–May) and meet RE program commitments
• Provide a substitute of equal qualification during extended absences
