Facilities Technician
Overall Responsibility: The Facilities Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving the physical infrastructure of the manufacturing facility. This role ensures that all systems, equipment, and facilities are operating efficiently and in compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The technician will work closely with other departments to minimize downtime and create a safe, functional, and productive work environment.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
Maintenance and Repairs:
- Perform routine maintenance on facility systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair building systems, equipment, and infrastructure issues.
Facility Operations:
- Monitor and maintain utilities, including lighting, heating, cooling, and water systems.
- Conduct inspections of the facility to identify and address potential safety hazards or compliance concerns.
- Manage waste disposal and recycling processes according to environmental regulations.
Equipment and System Monitoring:
- Maintain and calibrate sensors, controls, and automated systems related to facility operations.
- Monitor energy usage and recommend energy-saving measures.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Project Support:
- Assist in facility modifications, renovations, and new equipment installations.
- Collaborate with contractors and vendors to ensure quality and timely completion of projects.
Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules, repairs, and inspections.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local building codes.
- Update facility layout drawings and utility schematics as needed.
Emergency Response:
- Respond promptly to facility emergencies, including system failures or natural disasters.
- Support emergency preparedness planning and training.
Skills Required:
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Familiarity with building management systems (BMS) and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in the use of power tools, diagnostic equipment, and safety protocols.
Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certifications or associate degree in facilities management, maintenance, or a related field preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in facilities maintenance preferred, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- 2+ years Construction experience required
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to spend sit, stand, kneel, crouch, climb ladders, and work at height.
- Ability to exert and/or lift up to 50lbs occasionally.
- Visual acuity to determine accuracy, neatness, thoroughness, variances in product (including color vision).
- Ability to work in extreme environmental conditions (from very cold to very hot.)
