The Role

Do you have the skills to lead and inspire a congregation through music? Can you play the piano or acoustic guitar while leading a choir and congregation in worship?

We are looking for a Music Director & Musician to provide musical leadership for Catholic services at Robins Air Force Base Chapel. This role involves playing, directing, and organizing music for regular worship services, rehearsals, and special occasions.

In this role, You will be responsible for leading music at Catholic services, working closely with the Catholic Chaplain/Priest to plan and deliver meaningful worship experiences.

This is a part-time, 1099 contract position for 2-3 hours per week over a 5-year contract term.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Playing the piano (acoustic/electric) or acoustic guitar during services
  • Leading the choir/praise team and congregation in song
  • Preparing and directing music for weekly services and rehearsals
  • Providing music for special services such as memorials and faith-based holidays
  • Coordinating with the Catholic Chaplain/Priest on music selections and scheduling
  • Plan and organize music for weekly worship and special services
  • Lead and train a choir/praise team
  • Sight-read, arrange, and perform a variety of traditional and contemporary worship music
  • Recruit and coordinate volunteers for the music ministry
  • Submit requests for music-related purchases or repairs
  • Ensure all government-owned instruments and music materials are maintained and returned

The Person

To be successful in this role, you should:

  • Have at least three years of college music education or equivalent experience
  • Be proficient in playing piano (acoustic/electric) and/or acoustic guitar
  • Have experience in leading a choir or praise team
  • Be confident in singing and leading congregational worship
  • Have the ability to sight-read, arrange, and score music
  • Work well with volunteers, church leaders, and parishioners
  • Be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English
