We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead and elevate our safety program across all projects. This role is both strategic and hands-on, partnering closely with the constrcution teams and leadership to ensure safety is embedded in how we plan, execute, and deliver work.

This is a new position, reflecting our continued growth and commitment to strengthening our internal Health & Safety capabilities.

Core Responsibilities

Program Leadership & COR

  • Own and continuously improve Royalty’s COR-certified Health & Safety program, ensuring ongoing compliance and audit readiness
  • Lead internal COR audits (quarterly/ongoing) and coordinate external audits
  • Reduce reliance on external consultants by building strong internal H&S capability and systems
  • Ensure consistency and standardization of safety practices across all projects

Site Safety & Operations

  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits across all active projects
  • Partner with Project Managers and Site Supervisors to ensure safety is planned, not reactive
  • Reinforce accountability for daily safety requirements (e.g., hazard assessments, safe work procedures, documentation)
  • Support teams in resolving safety issues quickly and effectively

Training & Safety Culture

  • Develop and deliver mandatory safety training programs (e.g., WHMIS, Working at Heights, Supervisor Training, Worker Awareness)
  • Lead new hire and annual safety orientations
  • Champion a safety-first culture aligned with Royalty’s CARES values
  • Coach and support leaders to improve safety behaviours, communication, and compliance

Incident Management & Reporting

  • Lead incident investigations, including near misses, and ensure root cause analysis and corrective actions are implemented
  • Track and report on key safety metrics (incidents, near misses, compliance, training completion)
  • Provide clear, actionable reporting to leadership to drive decision-making and continuous improvement

Compliance & Stakeholder Management

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, including OHSA, MOL requirements, and industry standards
  • Act as the primary contact for regulatory agencies and inspections
  • Support project teams with risk assessments, permits, and safe work planning
  • Collaborate with external partners (e.g., safety consultants) where required

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Health & Safety experience within ICI construction
  • Proven experience managing or supporting a COR-certified program
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario OHSA, WSIB, and MOL regulations
  • Hands-on experience with site inspections, audits, and incident investigations
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and coach field teams and leadership
  • Strong auditing, reporting, and documentation skills
  • Excellent communication skills — able to engage teams at all levels
  • Post-secondary education in Health & Safety or related field (preferred)
  • Professional designation (e.g., CRSP, NCSO) considered an asset
  • Proficient with H&S systems and tools

What Success Looks Like in This Role

  • Consistent, high-quality safety practices across all sites
  • Strong COR audit performance with reduced external dependency
  • Improved compliance, documentation, and training completion rates
  • Increased engagement and accountability from PMs and Site Supervisors
  • Measurable reduction in incidents and safety risks
