Junior Quantity Surveyor – £28-35k per annum – Aberdeen

Are you starting your career in Quantity Surveying and looking for a role where you can learn, develop, and gain real project exposure from day one?

We’re looking for a Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our growing Project Services team within rhi. This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals, build your commercial skills, and play a key role in delivering projects from tender stage through to final account.

Please note: This role requires the right to work in the UK on a long-term basis without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.

The Role

You’ll support the Quantity Surveying team across both pre-contract and post-contract activities, helping to ensure projects are commercially controlled, accurately measured, and delivered in line with contract requirements.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll gain exposure to real project work, develop strong commercial awareness, and build a solid foundation in Quantity Surveying.

What You’ll Be Doing

Pre-Contract

  • Assist in preparing Bills of Quantities using engineering drawings and industry data
  • Support the development of schedules of rates and contract preambles
  • Help review tender submissions, including cost and manhour analysis
  • Contribute to benchmarking rates against industry standards
  • Assist with quantity take-offs from drawings

Post-Contract

  • Support measurement and re-measurement of works on site
  • Assist in preparing interim valuations and final accounts
  • Help review and assess variations, claims, and contractor submissions
  • Work closely with engineers and estimators to support cost control and reporting
  • Contribute to project forecasting and commercial reporting
  • Assist with contract close-out and final account preparation

About the Company

At rhi, you’ll be joining a global consultancy that plays a key role in delivering some of the world’s most complex energy and infrastructure projects.

With over 50 years of experience, rhi works closely with major clients across the full project lifecycle - from early planning through to delivery and close-out. What that means for you is real exposure to meaningful work, not just theory.

What We’re Looking For

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (or working towards one)
  • A genuine interest in building a career in Quantity Surveying
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • A structured, detail-focused approach to your work
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working within a team

Personal Qualities That Will Help You Succeed

  • Organised and reliable, with great attention to detail
  • Willing to learn and take initiative
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
  • Adaptable, with the ability to manage changing priorities
  • Professional, with a strong sense of accountability and integrity
