The role

NIWE Academy is looking for a Hair Styling & Barbering Instructor to join our growing team in Calgary. In this role, you will teach practical hair styling and barbering skills to students preparing for careers in the beauty industry.

You will lead hands-on classes, support student progress, and help learners build confidence, technical ability, and career-ready habits. This is a great opportunity for an experienced stylist or barber who wants to move into education while staying connected to the industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach hair styling and barbering techniques in line with Alberta Red Seal standards and NIWE Academy curriculum
• Lead practical training sessions for student groups of 15+
• Coach students and provide clear, useful feedback
• Track student progress and support learning outcomes
• Help prepare lesson plans, assessments, and hybrid learning materials
• Maintain a clean, safe, and professional classroom environment
• Attend workshops and industry events to keep your skills current
• Represent NIWE Academy at open houses, career fairs, and community events

The person

You will bring:

• Alberta Red Seal Certification, or equivalent credential
• 5–7+ years of salon or barbershop experience after apprenticeship
• Strong technical skills across a range of hair types, textures, and styles
• Adult education certification, or willingness to obtain within 6 months
• Good organization and communication skills
• Comfort using learning systems and digital tools
• A supportive teaching style and team-focused approach
