Roman Catholic Coordinator of Religious Education (CRE)

Part-Time | 15-20 Hours per Week | 1099 Independent Contractor | $20-$23 per Hour

Are you experienced in Roman Catholic religious education and catechesis? Do you enjoy guiding children, youth, families, and volunteers in their faith journey while supporting a vibrant military chapel community?

The Role

Marine Corps Base Quantico Memorial Chapel is seeking a Roman Catholic Coordinator of Religious Education (CRE) to support and administer religious education programs for children and youth from Pre-K through 12th grade.

Working closely with the Roman Catholic Chaplain and chapel leadership, you will coordinate faith formation programs, sacramental preparation, retreats, volunteer training, and special events throughout the academic year.

This is a part-time 1099 independent contractor position requiring approximately 15-20 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Roman Catholic religious education programs
  • Coordinate First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation preparation
  • Organize retreats, service projects, and youth ministry activities
  • Recruit, train, and support volunteer catechists
  • Maintain student registrations and attendance records
  • Develop annual education plans and event calendars
  • Coordinate Vacation Bible School activities with the Protestant CRE
  • Support homeschooling families participating in faith formation programs
  • Ensure compliance with Archdiocese and youth protection requirements

The Person

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Be a baptized and confirmed Roman Catholic
  • Have knowledge of Roman Catholic theology and catechesis
  • Possess experience in religious education, faith formation, or parish ministry
  • Be comfortable leading volunteers and coordinating events
  • Have working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Be able to complete required background checks and training
  • Previous military chapel or DoD religious education experience is preferred
