The Role

Are you an experienced finance leader who thrives on precision and compliance? Do you enjoy shaping financial strategy while ensuring day-to-day operational excellence?

We are seeking a Controller to lead the finance function for a growing $100M+ distribution company. This role reports directly to the CEO and oversees a stable, experienced team operating across five locations. The systems and processes are well-established, but leadership welcomes fresh ideas and strategic input. For the right person, this position offers a clear path to CFO.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee corporate accounting functions and ensure GAAP compliance.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reports.
  • Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Manage tax strategy and compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Direct annual audits and maintain strong internal controls.
  • Develop cost control initiatives and oversee risk management strategies.
  • Manage banking relationships, treasury functions, and credit operations.
  • Supervise finance, accounting, credit, and administrative teams.
  • Oversee accounts payable, supplier payments, and asset management.
  • Coordinate with IT providers to align technology with business needs.

The Person

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • 7–10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, including 3+ years as a Controller.
  • Expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to build and develop high-performing teams.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and communication abilities.
