The Role

Do you have a sharp eye for detail and a solid grasp of accounting principles? Are you experienced in managing financial records with precision and professionalism?

Cobble Hill Management is a leading residential property management firm specializing in multifamily properties in New York City. We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team.

Based in our Manhattan office four days per week, with one flexible remote day, you'll be responsible for maintaining accurate books across our real estate portfolio and supporting day-to-day financial operations.

You will report to the Chief Financial Officer and work closely with the Property Management team to ensure timely payments, reconciliations, and financial clarity across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly bookkeeping and financial reporting for a portfolio of multifamily properties
  • Maintain and update financial records including general ledger, expenses, payables, and receivables.
  • Reconcile bank statements and resolve any discrepancies
  • Prepare weekly collection and other financial reports for review.
  • Record and schedule accounts payable for mid‑month and month‑end runs.
  • Set up, maintain and resolve issues on utility accounts.
  • Respond to finance inbox inquiries promptly, verify vendor invoices, and redirect messages as needed.
  • Support Property Management team with tenant‑related financial questions.
  • Complete annual budgets
  • Assist with organization of documents for 1099 filings, compliance, audits, and tax support.

The Person

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Minimum 5 years of professional accounting or bookkeeping experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (especially Excel), Outlook, and Google Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong organization, time‑management, and attention to detail.
  • Ideally, experience with AppFolio, Yardi or similar real‑estate accounting software.
  • Preferably background in residential rental property accounting.
