Jewish Rabbi Services - Arlington National Cemetery– $100 per hour, commensurate with experience

The Role

We are seeking a Jewish Rabbi to provide supplemental religious services and pastoral support at Arlington National Cemetery and affiliated sites. This role supports the United States Air Force Chaplain Corps by conducting funeral and committal services for Jewish veterans, military retirees, and their families.

This is a part-time, non-personal services contract position involving up to 40 units (services) per year. A unit may include chapel services, graveside interments, or associated pastoral duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct funeral and graveside services in line with Jewish teachings and military protocol
  • Coordinate with USAF Honor Guard, ANC staff, and other ceremonial units
  • Communicate with next-of-kin before and after services, including condolence letters
  • Adhere to Jewish faith guidelines as recognized by the Jewish Welfare Board – Jewish Chaplains Council or the Aleph Institute
  • Respect military customs, protocols, and work in cooperation with the assigned Active Duty Rabbi
  • Attend brief onboarding training on conducting Air Force funerals at ANC
  • Respond promptly to service assignments and maintain open communication with the ANC Chaplain Corps office

This role is delivered through a contract with the United States Air Force Chaplain Corps. The successful Rabbi will support funeral services and pastoral care in collaboration with ANC staff, ensuring respectful and dignified services for Jewish service members and their families.

The Person

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Holds ecclesiastical endorsement from the Jewish Welfare Board or the Aleph Institute
  • Has knowledge of Jewish scripture, customs, and liturgy
  • Is fluent in English and able to handle administrative communication confidently
  • Understands or is willing to learn military customs and courtesies
  • Demonstrates professionalism, empathy, and reliability

Prior military experience is a plus but not required. You must be comfortable using email and Microsoft Office applications.
