Education Welfare Officer–£15,000– Upshire, Essex (Covering the Redbridge, Barking and Dagenham and Waltham Forest areas)

The Role

Do you have solid experience in education welfare and the confidence to manage your own caseload? Are you looking for a meaningful part-time role where you can help improve school attendance and support vulnerable families?If so, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!

We are seeking an experienced Education Welfare Officer to support a range of schools across Redbridge, Barking and Dagenham and Waltham Forest. This is a part time, term-time-only position (3 days per week), ideal for someone who understands the value of education and wants to play a key role in helping children thrive.

You will work directly with students, families, schools and other agencies to promote regular attendance and address barriers that may be affecting a child's education.

Please note: only experienced Education Welfare Officers will be considered for this role. You must also have use of a car, as home visits are a key part of this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve school attendance.
  • Provide support and guidance to students and families regarding welfare issues.
  • Collaborate with school staff to identify at-risk students and create intervention plans.
  • Conduct home visits as necessary to engage with families and assess needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and welfare cases.
  • Educate parents and students on the importance of attendance and well-being.
  • Work closely with external agencies to ensure comprehensive support for students.
  • Implement legal proceedings where necessary.

The Person

  • Experience in an educational or welfare setting is essential.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people.
  • Understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures in education.
  • A commitment to promoting the welfare of children.
  • Use of own vehicle is essential subject to mileage payments.
