Sous Chef – $20.00–$26.80 per hour + Excellent Benefits – North East, MD

The Role

We’re Sandy Cove Ministries – a Christian retreat centre on the Chesapeake Bay – offering group events, family vacations, and spiritual programmes in a beautiful waterfront setting. We’re now looking for a skilled Sous Chef to join our growing culinary team.

In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll support the Executive Chef in day-to-day operations, lead the kitchen in their absence, and ensure consistent delivery of high-quality meals for guests and staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, train, and motivate kitchen staff from a variety of backgrounds and skill levels
• Create daily prep lists and oversee food preparation
• Plan seasonal menu cycles and weekly menus
• Coordinate with group leaders for special event menus
• Place food and supply orders weekly
• Monitor food quality, presentation, and service standards
• Prepare meals that accommodate dietary restrictions and special requests
• Ensure dining room service runs smoothly
• Maintain cleanliness and safety in line with health regulations
• Conduct daily inspections of food storage areas
• Manage team scheduling
• Respond to feedback and report any issues to the Executive Chef.
